Roof bidding process and what to expect

If you have never had a new roof put on in Lansing, you may not know what to expect. It may seem a bit intimidating having someone come in to your home and poke around, but if you know how the process goes, it will help you to feel comfortable and confident every step of the way.

Consultation:

You should always expect to talk with the sales rep prior to them telling you what you need. They should ask you questions about the age of the roof, if you are having leaks anywhere, and what you are looking for in your new roof.

Measuring and inspecting:

After the roofing contractor has a better understanding about what you are looking for, they will then go around the house getting measurements and taking notes. It is important that they get up close to the areas of concern and get a better understanding. If possible, they should get up on the roof itself and take a walk around. There is a lot you can tell just by walking a roof rather than glancing at it from the sidewalk.

Proposal:

Sometimes a roofing company can give you a proposal right then for your project, but usually they will have to take the information back to the office and get it written out. Either way, you will want to make sure it covers all the aspects that are needed in a professional roofing proposal.
